These abandoned military vehicle hulks were photographed by Geograph user Stephen Richards at Bognor Common Quarry in Fittleworth, West Sussex, in 2010.

Describing the first vehicle, the photographer wrote: “A modified WWII Canadian Military Pattern Chevrolet Field Artillery Tractor, originally with no. 13 Cab, subsequently fitted with a post war commercial cab whose front silhouette matches the original so as to mate with the original fenders. The wheels and tires are original, and the original winch is poking through behind the cab. This 4×4 was built at Oshawa Ontario in 1942-45 period.”

As for the image above, Richards wrote: “Presumably connected to quarrying operations at one point. The ‘Q’ number plate looked more up to date than the rest of the vehicle. I have been told that this is a British army Bedford MJ with Atlas folding crane.”
