It may not be quite the real thing, but this piece of concept art gives the impression of what a freshly downed World War Two fighter aircraft might look like, having slipped beneath the waves. The plane in question is a German Focke-Wulf Fw 190, one of the Luftwaffe’s most formidable wartime fighters. Meanwhile, the below image shows the real deal – an Fw 190 hulk pulled from the water off Sotra, Norway, in 2006. To find out more about this and other wrecked Second World War planes, check out our feature covering 12 wrecked and recovered aircraft of the period.
