A giant can of Coke sitting in a field above Tabriz – that was the response of Iranian street art duo Icy and Sot to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s ban on imports from key American companies, including Coca-Cola. As Alice from My Modern Metropolis points out, that list also includes the likes of IBM, Intel and Swiss multinational Nestle.
From IcyandSot.com: “Since 2006, they have made paramount accomplishments in Iranian urban art culture as both skaters and artists, creating an international buzz by playing it any way but safe, their works are about war, peace, hope, despair, society issues and human rights.” The pair have held shows in various cities across the world.
