Military Aircraft Graveyard at Burgas Airport in Bulgaria

Abandoned planes and aircraft graveyards are popular subjects of urbex photography, decaying mechanical wonders that reflect an important component of 20th century history. Officially a museum, this Cold War collection of fighter planes and helicopters at Burgas Airport is a hangover from Bulgaria’s membership of the Warsaw Pact, which saw the country operate mainly Soviet aircraft including various models of MiG.  It’s many years since these examples have seen active service and they now make for some great urban exploring.
