Disused cabooses, like this Union Pacific vehicle abandoned near the Death Valley ghost town of Rhyolite, are not uncommon in America’s Old West.  The once important settlement (pictured below) contains a house built out of 50,000 recycled beer bottles, but the only reuse this caboose appears to have seen is as a shelter for local rattlesnakes – a dangerous addition to the list of hazards traditionally faced by urban explorers.  (If forgotten railway equipment is your kind of thing, be sure to check out this train graveyard and our feature article covering abandoned railways, stations, tunnels & bridges.
