This battered Chieftain tank was once one of the most advanced armoured fighting vehicles of its generation. Serving as the main battle tank of the United Kingdom during the 1960s and 1970s, it had the most powerful gun and heaviest armour of any tank in the world when it entered service.   But the tables have turned for this abandoned Chieftain, lying on the Lulworth Military Range in Dorset, England.  Once a formidable war machine, it’s now one of many older generation tanks used to train modern fighting units.  But for all the fire it’s taken, this tank’s reinforced shell still looks tough to penetrate.  (Check out 30 more amazing abandoned tanks and armoured vehicles here.)
