Ghostly Boeing 747 Captured on Google Earth
You may have heard stories about ghostly World War Two aircraft appearing alongside modern airliners and frightening the living daylights out of passengers. But now it seems that even Google Earth could be picking up the supernatural essence of a high tech bundle of nuts and bolts. Can you locate this ghostly Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet? Perhaps the US military could take a leaf out of its book as the latest incarnation of stealth!
The only clue is that it’s sitting at the terminal of an airport in the United States, and the photo was taken in February 2007. You’ll know when you find it, because it’s not alone!

I just checked out LAX and its not there – has anyone tried the gearth flight simulator? It’s awesome
Not in Denver – my home town! FYI Thor, I like google flight simulator, but the crash sucks.
I found it –> clue: Sell ‘ud!
Oh okay!! Now I know what you’re talking about. That’s one hell of a code, you should go and work for the CIA!
this is very fake… yawn…
IAD baby !
Nice one, DLPM!
Hey Pork, you could be right, although I’m not sure it’s “fake” in that someone has gone to the trouble of actually faking it… I’ve just checked Dulles airport on Google Earth and it’s still there. And there looks to be another one taxiing too, although slightly more visible. I’m guessing it’s an error in the satellite imagery rather than a true fake?
its not a ghost aircraft .Google Earth captures the infrared images .
The rays are available even after the actual aircraft has gone .
This types of images means that the aircraft has moved from the location recently .
kumar, you don’t have a clue about remote sensing, do you? Google earth imagery is usual visible light imagery from commercial providers. You want to check the difference between near/far infrared and thermal.
Its not a 747 at all, if you look next to it you will see a 747, the ghost image is of a 2 engine plane, most likly a 777.
If any of you actually go to Dulles international airport on google maps and zoom in fully you will see that the 747 to the left of the ‘ghost’ plane is also slightly transparent, which is evident near the cockpit.
Now look a bit higher.
See any more ‘ghost’ vehicles? Even the building directly North has a ghosting effect around the edges!
Hey bob, just had a closer look and you’re absolutely right!
Hey Jdog, thanks for your message. Yes it’s true, Dulles Airport and some of its aircraft do appear somewhat ghostly in the picture! Good spot!
it’s a superposition of two photos, taken at different times…duh!
Thanks dpg! I had a feeling it was something like that, but my knowledge of physics isn’t the best so wanted to hear what other people had to say. I think you might have hit the nail on the head!
definitely not a 747.
maybe a 777.
